Blog Post: Partnership Requires Discernment

When I first started Lady B’s Treats, I was open to every opportunity. Every “collab” sounded exciting, and every inquiry felt like progress. But over time, I learned—not every door that opens is meant to be walked through.

Some partnerships taught me a lot, and I’m grateful for them. Others I had to walk away from. And that’s okay, too.

As my brand evolved, I began to realize just how important it is to align myself with people and businesses that share similar values. If I strive to be timely, presentable, and intentional with customer service, it doesn’t make sense to link arms with someone who doesn’t respect those same standards.

Because when someone experiences your product, they’re also experiencing who you chose to attach your name to.

And sometimes… You might be the problem. Mistakes and missteps happen on both sides. That’s inevitable. We’re human. But partnerships are a two-way street. Be willing to own your part when things don’t go as planned. You’ll learn faster, grow better, and move forward with a clearer understanding.

Humility repairs. And grace—both for others and yourself—keeps the door open for something stronger.

The wrong partnership can weigh you down. The right one can elevate you. And discernment is what helps you tell the difference.

I’ve learned to pray before I agree. I ask God to reveal the heart behind the offer, to give me clarity, and to give me peace before I say yes. Because not every opportunity is a blessing. Some are just distractions dressed up in potential.

We can get so caught up in the idea of a thing that we forget—every decision has a cost. So ask yourself: are you ready to pay the price for the choice you're making?

But when the right partnership comes along? You’ll know. It will feel aligned. Mutual. Whole.

So if you’re building something, protect it. Don’t let fear of missing out push you into rooms you don’t belong in.

Be open, but be rooted. Be bold, but be wise.

Because your brand is not just your logo…It’s your name. And your name should stand for something.

Love,

Lady B.
